Brief Summary of Reports
Individual Reports
Parcel info – Basic assessment information, legal description, owner name and site address and acreage. The Town Parcels layer and the City and Village Parcels layer must be turned on for this report to work.
Supervisory Districts – breakdown of population by race within each Supervisory District. Also a link to Supervisor infomation (who the Supervisor is, contact information, what voting wards are covered). The Supervisory Districts layer must be turned on for this report to work.
Voting Wards – breakdown of population by race within each Voting Ward. Also a link to Supervisor infomation (who the Supervisor is, contact information, what voting wards are covered) as well as links to other representatives. The Voting Wards layer must be turned on for this report to work.
Reports based on Census Information Layer
The reports are based on 2000 Census Data from the U.S. Census Bureau on the Municipality level. The box next to Census information must be turned on for these reports to work.
Ancestry – ethnicities of residents.
Education – population currently enrolled in school, also, highest level of education attained.
Commute - shows where people who work in Sauk County live.
Employment Status - number of residents employed, unemployed, in Civilian Labor Force, in Armed Forces, not in labor force.
Family Income - income ranges, median income, female worker salaries, male worker salaries.
Gender and Age – male/female population, age ranges of residents.
Gross Rent -dollar ranges for gross rent, gross rent as a percentage of household income. (Gross Rent is monthly contract rent plus the estimated average monthly cost of utilites and fuels, if these are paid by the renter.)
House Heating Fuel - the type of fuel used most often to heat the house, apartment or mobile home.
Household by type – married couple families, female only families, non-family households, etc.
Household Income – dollar ranges of 1999 income for households
Housing Occupancy – owner and renter occupied housing units, vacant housing units.
Housing Unit Value -value ranges for housing units (a housing unit may be a house, apartment, or mobile home).
Marital Status – population married, divorced, widowed, never married, separated.
Mortgage Status - value ranges for mortgage payments, also as a percent of household income.
Poverty Status - Poverty is meausured by using 48 thresholds that vary by family size and number of children within the family and age of the householder. To determine whether a person is poor, one compares the total income of that person's family with the threshold appropriate for that family. If the total family income is less than the threshold, the the person is considered poor, together with every member of his or her family. This report shows the number of families as well as individuals who meet this definition.
Race – Break down of population by race (this reflects self-identification by people according to the race or races with which they most closely identify.
Relationship – what relationships are in households…spouse, children, non-related, etc.
Units and Rooms – how many and rooms in each housing unit
Work Flow – where do Sauk County residents work?
Year Structure Built – range of years that structures were built
Reports based on Census Blocks layer
Census Blocks are the smallest geographic area for which the Bureau of the Census collects and tabulates decennial census data. The blocks are formed by streets, roads, railraoads, streams and other bodies of water, and other visible physical and cultural features. Also, please note, to use these reports, the Census Blocks layer must be turned on and the Census Information layer must be turned off.
Block Age – breakdown of population by age ranges.
Block Housing - number of households with children, without children. Number of families, family size, etc.
Block Population - breakdown of population by race.
Reports based on 1990 Census Block Groups layer and the 2000 Census Block Groups
Census Block Groups are the next level above census blocks in the geographic hierarchy. A Block Group is a combination of census blocks that is a subdivision of a census tract or block numbering area. Also, please note, to use these reports, the Census Block Groups layer must be turned on and the Census Information layer as well as the Census Blocks layer must be turned off.
